Transcript:

In this module, we will discuss your income, budget, emergency fund, and other cash reserves. This is my starting point when I engage with a new client in my advisory firm because it allows me to test whether someone’s metaphorical house is built on a rock or sand. You will learn tips and tricks that could be worth thousands of dollars and dramatically shift your financial trajectory for the rest of your life.

I’d like you to keep three principles in mind as we go through this module:

You deserve to be fairly compensated for your work. As Jesus said to his disciples when sending them to preach, “the worker deserves his wages” Luke 10:7

Your budget reflects your values. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” Matthew 6:21

Be wise and prepare for danger. “The prudent sees danger and hides himself, but the simple go on and suffer for it.” Proverbs 22:3

By the end of this module, you will understand your income and its potential, have the tools you need to create a budget, define how large of an emergency fund you need, and have a plan in place for significant expenses coming down the road.
